We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Officials, Team managers, Results recorders, and other helpers, for running a very successful and exciting gala. Also to the parents and swimmers for attending the gala. ESSA are holding their 2nd Summer Open Championships on Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th July 2020.
It is open to all swimmers from 9 years old, including para swimmers. Entry deadline - entries will be accepted up to 5th June where space permits - it is a ‘first-come-first-served’ entry Licensed by Swim England at Level 3 (3SExxxxx tbc) – Long Course K2 Leisure Centre, Crawley, RH11 9BQ Age Groups: 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, 15 and over. Ages are calculated as at 5th July 2020 Events: 50m, 100m and 200m all strokes plus 100m IM, 200m IM, 400m Freestyle & IM All events will be heat declared winners. This is a selection for the East Division team (East Division includes other counties besides Hertfordshire such as Beds, Cambridge). Historically Hertfordshire has been well represented in the East Division team. Please see the ESSA website for previous events and results. https://www.essa-schoolswimming.com/index.php/events/inter-divisional-championships The gala is Swim England licensed level 1 (LC) and is on Saturday 29th February and Sunday 1st March 2020 at Sheffield Ponds Forge. Events include sprints (50m) through to longer distance (400m Medley and Free) and relays across the same 3 age groupings we use in Hertfordshire (Junior Yr7&8, Intermediate Yr9&10, Senior Yr11-13). Note that the 50m events are Open only. Times submitted on the form will be verified by British Swimming rankings. There were 2 records - in Senior Medley and Senior Freestyle relays - both Aylesbury Grammar School. Well done! Congratulations to winners St Albans District with a total of 383 points. Watford were a close 2nd on 355.5 points, Dacorum 3rd on 292.5 points, North on 207 points, Mid on 177 points and East on 138 points. There was 1 record on the evening: Yr 6 Girls Freestyle Relay, Watford Well done! Winners of the groups were: Yr 5 Girls - Watford, Yr 5 Boys - St Albans Yr 6 Girls - Dacorum, Yr 6 Boys - St Albans Thanks to all the swimmers who participated in this very exciting gala and parents for supporting. Also, thanks to all the district team managers, officials, and other helpers. Without you we would not have been able to run the gala.
